KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Santa Clara women's soccer continued to have the accolades roll in as seniors
Alex Loera and
Kelsey Turnbow were named
All-America on Thursday by the United Soccer Coaches.
Loera was named to the Second Team with Turnbow making the Third Team. Both were named
First Team All-West Region earlier this week after being named
First Team-All WCC in April.
Loera, who was also named
the WCC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, has been an anchor on the back line. She has helped the Broncos post six shutouts, including two in a row and three in the last four matches. They have allowed just seven goals in 10 matches this season. Loera has one assist this year.
Turnbow has helped lead a powerhouse offense that is No. 7 in the country with 2.6 goals per game and No. 6 with 7.9 points per game. Turnbow leads the Broncos with eight goals and 20 points while adding three game-winners. She is tied for 11th in the country with 2.0 points per game.
This year's All-Americans will be recognized as part of the United Soccer Coaches College Awards Ceremony, which will be made available to view online as a digital event beginning June 30.
The No.11 seed Broncos will face No. 2 seed North Carolina Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Pacific
in the national semifinals of the
NCAA Tournament in Cary, N.C. The match will air on ESPN2 and can also be watched on
