SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Five different teams won a major award as the West Coast Conference announced its 2025 Women’s Soccer All-Conference awards on Wednesday. All six individual awards and the all-conference teams were voted on solely by the Conference’s 12 coaches.
The All-WCC First Team is comprised of a specific position format of three forwards three midfielders three defenders, one goalkeeper and one "wildcard" spot given to the student-athlete remaining with the most votes regardless of position. In addition, new this year, the positional major award winners were also automatically selected to the all-conference first team and the runner-up for Goalkeeper of the Year was automatically selected to the all-conference second team.
Saint Mary's earned two major awards with Theresa Romagnolo winning Coach of the Year and Kate Plachy winning Goalkeeper of the Year. Tabitha LaParl from West Coast Conference champion Pepperdine won Midfielder of the Year. The league's leading scorer, Caroline Penner from Seattle U won Offensive Player of the Year. Keeley Dockter from Portland won Defensive Player of the Year and Gonzaga's Samantha Snorsky won Freshman of the Year.
Leading the Gaels to an overall record of 12-2-4 and a conference record of 7-1-3, Romagnolo earned West Coast Conference Coach of the Year accolades for the first time in her career and she became the first Saint Mary's head coach to win the award since Paul Ratcliffe won it three years in a row from 1999-01. The Gaels were in contention to win their first conference title in program history heading into the final day of the regular season. They finished the 2025 campaign going unbeaten in 15 of their last 16 games, outscoring opponents 24-5 during that span. SMC also went unbeaten at home this year with a record of 6-0-3.
Plachy gave Saint Mary's its first Goalkeeer of the Year honoree since Taylor Poland won it in 2020. Plachy became the second Gael to earn this award in program history. She was dominant in goal all year for Saint Mary's. The Gaels only allowed 11 goals this season, a conference best, along with a conference-best GAA of 0.61. Plachy ranked third in the nation with 12 shutouts. Four of Saint Mary's last six games resulted in shutouts and the Gaels only allowed two total goals during that span of six straight games without a loss. Since an Aug. 24 battle against No. 2 Stanford, the Gaels only allowed more than one goal on one occasion in the following 12 matches.
The leading scorer this season in the West Coast Conference, Penner claimed West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year accoaldes in Seattle U's first season returning to the West Coast Conference. Penner scored 17 goals and tallied 40 points, both conference highs. She put on an offensive showcase against Oregon State, scoring four goals and adding an assist. She finished the season strong at San Diego, scoring twice in the regular season finale.
From the West Coast Conference champion Pepperdine Waves, LaParl won West Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year honors, marking the second straight year a Wave won this award after Karina Gonzalez was one of three recipients last year. LaParl is also the second Wave to win this award since it was instituted in 2021. She was part of a Waves squad that outscored its opponents, 27-7 in conference play. The Waves finished second in the league to Seattle U in scoring thanks to efforts by LaParl. She finished fourth in the league in assists with seven and also tallied two game-winning goals.
Dockter became Portland's first West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year honoree since Amanda Frisbie in 2013. Between efforts from Dockter and goalkeeper Sophia Hills, the Pilots boasted the league's second-best goals-against average at 0.63. Portland allowed just 12 goals during the 2025 campaign, also second best in the West Coast Conference. Dockter played in 16 games with 15 starts, playing nearly 1400 minutes. She also notched an assist this season.
Snorsky is the first Bulldog to win West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. She ended the 2025 campaign third on her team in points with 11 on one goal and nine assists. She played in all 19 games with 18 starts. Her goal came in conference play against Seattle U. She tallied two assists in a game on two occasions, including in the regular season finale against Oregon State. In the final five games of the season, she averaged an assist per game.
Pepperdine led the way with four all-conference first-team selections (LaParl, Peyton Leonard, Julia Quinonez, Tatum Wynalda), while Saint Mary's (Plachy, Sydney Middaugh), Portland (Dockter, Violet Rademacher) and Seattle U (Penner, U'i Kaaihue) sported two players on the first team. Gonzaga's Amelia Severn also received first-team recognition. Middaugh and Wynalda garnered first-team accolades after being named to the all-conference second team in 2024.
