SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced its Baseball All-Academic Team for the 2021 season. This year’s 13-member first team encompasses WCC student-athletes who excelled both on the course and in the classroom.
Seven baseball programs placed at least one student-athlete on the first team led by three each from 2021 WCC Champion and NCAA Regional participant Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s. Portland and San Francisco both placed a pair.
This year’s squad features four repeat appearances and Saint Mary’s
Ryan Novis makes his third and final first team. WCC Player of the Year
Thomas Luevano of San Diego and
Christian Peters and
Chad Stevens of Portland make their second straight showing on the first team roster.
No fewer than 59 baseball student-athletes qualified for academic honors. More than 30 posted a GPA of at least 3.50, while 19 posted marks of 3.75 or better.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
