SAN MATEO, Calif. – Pepperdine swept the University Credit Union West Coast Conference men’s basketball weekly honors, with Maxwell Lewis collecting Player of the Week accolades and Jevon Porter being named the Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Both players are first-time honorees this season.
 
UCU WCC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MAXWELL LEWIS, SO., F – PEPPERDINE
Maxwell Lewis averaged 22.7 points on nearly 50 percent shooting (.471), 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 32.7 minutes over three games while competing at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. Against the tournament host, Hawai’i, Lewis led all players with 23 points, while leading the Waves with seven rebounds, two assists and three blocked shots in a tough six-point loss. The next day vs. George Washington, Lewis was an efficient 9-for-13 from the floor en route to a game-high-tying 22 points, four rebounds and game-high five assists, pushing Pepperdine to an 81-70 victory. Then, in a loss to Iona to close out the tournament, Lewis led all scorers with 23 points to go with a team-best eight rebounds and one steal.

UCU WCC MEN'S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – JEVON PORTER, FR., F – PEPPERDINE
Jevon Porter averaged 11.0 points (.500 FG), 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals on a national stage while playing at the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. In a narrow loss to tournament-host Hawai’i, Porter filled the stat sheet with 10 points, three rebounds, one assist, a career-best five steals and a game-high-tying three blocked shots. The forward continued his stellar play the following day in an 11-point win over George Washington, posting his third double-double of the year with 18 points and a game- and career-best 14 boards. Then, in the finale vs. Iona, Porter finished his time in Honolulu with five points and seven rebounds.
