SAN MATEO, Calif. – BYU’s Lauren Gustin and Pacific’s Anaya James are this week’s University Credit Union West Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, with PAC’s Sydney Ward collecting UCU WCC Freshman of the Week accolades, the league announced on Monday, Dec. 5.
 
UCU WCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LAUREN GUSTIN, JR., F – BYU
Lauren Gustin helped BYU to a 76-67 road win at Boise State in the Cougars’ lone outing of the week. For the eighth time in as many games this season, the forward finished with a double-double, putting up 24 points (9-14 FG, 6-7 FT) and 17 rebounds, while playing all 40 minutes. Gustin also accounted for BYU’s only blocked shot for the game and more than half of its rebounding total (17-of-32; 53.1 percent).
 
UCU WCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ANAYA JAMES, SO., G - PACIFIC
Anaya James recorded her second straight 20-point game, pushing Pacific past previously undefeated UNLV, 75-68. In her first outing after missing two games, the guard was 7-of-14 from the field (3-6 3FG), helping her match her season high for points (21), while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and dishing a game-high-tying seven assists in 39 minutes of action. James’ effort in PAC’s lone game of the week helped the Tigers post their best eight-game start to a season (5-3) since 2019-20.

UCU WCC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – SYDNEY WARD, FR., G – PACIFIC
Sydney Ward set a season high in points and minutes in Pacific’s lone game of the week – a 75-68 victory over the previously undefeated UNLV Lady Rebels. The guard scored five points in 17 minutes off the bench. Ward also added four rebounds, one assist and one steal as PAC improved to 5-3, to post its best start to a season since ’19-20.
