Rando and Telfer Win WCC Baseball Weekly Honors

SAN MATEO, Calif. – After sending everybody home Saturday in the 15th inning courtesy of a walk-off home run, Gonzaga’s Tyler Rando earned WCC Baseball Player of the Week honors for the first time this season. Pepperdine’s Shane Telfer was tabbed WCC Pitcher of the Week also for the first time this season.

#WCCSPORTS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TYLER RANDO, SR., C – GON
Rando came up big in helping Gonzaga sweep Santa Clara last weekend. He belted a two-run walk-off home run in the longest game ever played at Patterson Baseball Complex to clinch the series win in the 15th inning. He also drove in three more runs, including another two-run homer less than 24 hours later in the series finale. This is the first time that Rando has won WCC Player of the Week, and it is the first time that the Zags won have captured that award as a team this season.

Also Nominated: Brock Watkins, BYU; John Peck, Pepperdine; Nich Klemp, Portland

#WCCSPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – SHANE TELFER, JR. – PEP
In Pepperdine’s 6-1 win over LMU on Sunday, Telfer boasted career highs of 7.0 innings pitched and 10 strikeouts, while only allowing two hits over the scoreless frames.
