Top-Seed Gonzaga Gashes LMU, 16-2

STOCKTON, Calif. - Top-seeded and No. 10 ranked Gonzaga flexed its muscles in its first game at the WCC Baseball Tournament, defeating No. 5 seed LMU, 16-2, Thursday from Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif. 

The Bulldogs scored early and often, boasting an eight-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach. 

Five Zags garnerd multi-hit games, and Enzo Apodaca, Ezra Samperi and WCC Freshman of the Year Cade McGee each registered three hits on the afternoon. 

Gonzaga's five home runs on Thursday were the second most this season (7). Apodaca and McGee were two of the five Zags who homered. 

Apodaca also paced his squad with four RBI. 

On the mound, Owen Wild went the seven and two-thirds, striking out six Lions, allowing just two earned runs and two walks. 

The Bulldogs will face the winner of San Diego and Portland on Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m. LMU will play in the first game on Friday at noon against the loser of the San Diego and Portland game.
