SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Gonzaga was picked to win the West Coast Conference Rowing Championship for the third-straight year, winning by a five-point margin in the 2024 WCC Rowing Preseason Coaches Poll.
The coaches poll was selected solely by a vote of the conference’s seven head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams.
The Bulldogs accumulated 36 points to take first. San Diego tallied the second most points in the poll with 31. Gonzaga collected six first-place votes while USD claimed one. Portland (21 points) and LMU (20 points) were separated by only one point. The Pilots were voted third in the poll while the Lions were picked to finish fourth. Saint Mary's rounded out the top five with 18 points.
Since 2012, the Zags have been selected first or second in every single WCC preseason poll. Last season, Gonzaga claimed its 21st overall WCC Rowing Championship and eighth consecutive Conference title.
The All-WCC Preseason Rowing Team is made up of 17 student-athletes from the WCC’s seven member institutions. Hannah Cooney and Camille Ruhlin-Hicks from Gonzaga were named to the All-WCC First Team a year ago.
