SAN DIEGO - No. 3 seed Pacific swept No. 6 seed Portland in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Men's Tennis Tournament at the Aztec Tennis Complex on the San Diego State campus. The Tigers advanced to Friday's semifinals.
The doubles matches were close battles between the Tigers and the Pilots. Portland earned a win on the top court with a 7-6 victory. Pacific earned the doubles point with wins on the other two courts by the scores of 7-5 and 6-3, respectively.
In singles, the Tigers the second through fourth courts completed the sweep for the Tigers, and all three in straight sets. Terrence Das picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win on court four. In No. 2 singles, Justas Trainauskas won, 6-3, 6-2, and on the third court, Tiago Silva won, 7-6, 6-3.
With the win, the Tigers will play No. 2 seed Pepperdine Friday at 10 a.m. in the semifinals. The contest will be a rematch of the regular season finale for a share of the WCC Regular Season Championship that the Waves won, 4-3, in Stockton.
