SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – For the second time this season, San Diego's Jakob Christian won Rawlings WCC Baseball Player of the Week after helping the Toreros capture the 2024 WCC Baseball Regular Season Championship. Santa Clara's Blake Hammond won Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week, while Portland's Morgan Codron won Rawlings WCC Freshman of the Week.
RAWLINGS WCC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAKOB CHRISTIAN, JR., OF – SAN DIEGO
Jakob Christian batted .588 (10-for-17) last week against San Francisco and UC San Diego, scoring eight runs with four doubles, two home runs, six RBI and four walks. He got on base at a .696 clip across that four-game stretch while slugging at 1.176. He got his week started by going 1-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and three walks in USD's wild walk-off 13-inning win over the Tritons at Fowler Park. He stayed hot in the series opener on Friday at Benedetti Diamond, going 4-for-6 with two doubles as the Toreros played extras and won in 13 innings yet again. Christian was 2-for-3 with two runs, a double, a home run, three RBI and a walk in the middle game at USF before finishing strong with a 3-for-5 day in the finale that saw him score two more runs, double again and crush his 22nd home run of 2024. This is the fourth time a Torero has won Rawlings WCC Player of the Week in 2024.

RAWLINGS WCC BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – BLAKE HAMMOND, JR., RHP – SANTA CLARA
Blake Hammond led Santa Clara to a series-clinching 11-2 win over LMU, punching the Broncos' ticket into the WCC Baseball Tournament. Hammond pitched the longest outing of his career, throwing eight innings, allowing one earned run and striking out seven on only three hits. Hammond faced the minimum through six and two-thirds innings with only two base runners allowed during that entire time. He retired 12 in a row from the second through the fourth innings, and 19 of the 22 batters he faced from the first through the seventh. This is the first time a Broncos has won Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week this season.

RAWLINGS WCC BASEBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – MORGAN CODRON, FR., RHP – PORTLAND
Morgan Codron pitched twice last week, both resulted in shutout appearances. He earned the save against Pepperdine last Saturday, going four innings with no runs allowed, three strikeouts and three hits conceded in four innings. Codron also went two innings against Washington State with no runs or hits allowed and three strikeouts. This is the first time a Pilot has won Rawlings WCC Freshman of the Week this season. Eight of the nine teams in the league have won Freshman of the Week at least once this season.
