West Coast Conference Men's Soccer Round Up - Nov. 5

Three teams remain ranked among the best in the nation

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - With two weeks left in the regular season for West Coast Conference men's soccer, the conference championship is up for grabs between three of the nation's top teams in No. 8 Portland, No. 9 San Diego and No. 13 Oregon State based off the latest United Soccer Coaches poll. 

The West Coast Conference is shooting for four teams to hear their names called for the NCAA Tournament this year as four squads boast top-35 rankings as San Francisco checks in at No. 35 in that regard. 

Oregon State holds a one-point lead in first place with 17 points. San Diego is right behind the Beavers with 16 points and Portland is in third with 14 points. The Dons are next in fourth with 12 points. OSU and USD will play each other on the final day of the regular season in Corvallis, Ore.

Beavers Holding On To Slim First Place Lead 
The Beavers are unbeaten in conference games and at home this season

One of the top scorers in the nation Arnau Farnos paces the league in goals (13) and points (33). He also ranks fifth in the nation in goals and tied for second in points. Most recently, Farnos and the Beaver offense dominated Santa Clara, 6-0. OSU has scored 16 goals combined in its last three games.

Oregon State heads to Pacific this Saturday before the showdown with the Toreros next Saturday.

San Diego Enjoying A Four-Game Winning Streak 
San Diego has won five of its last six and the last four in a row. In addition, each of the four wins during this current winning streak have been shutouts. USD beat LMU and Seattle U both by a final score of 3-0 before topping Saint Mary's and Pacific each by a 1-0 final.

The Toreros are outscoring opponents in conference play, 14-3, with two of the those three goals coming against Portland and the other against USF. 

This week, San Diego hosts Gonzaga on Saturday before the big regular season finale at Oregon State. 

Pilots Stay In The Top 10 
Previously ranked No. 1 in the country earlier this season, the Pilots have only allowed nine goals this season after being the third to last Division 1 team to allow a goal this season. The Pilots rank tied for fourth in the nation in goal differntial (+28). Portland is also fourth in the nation in points per game (8.13), including a league-high 37 goals.

The Pilots faced a little bit of a hiccup when they went to Santa Clara two weeks ago and lost to the Broncos, 1-0.

This week, Portland hosts Seattle U at 7 p.m. The Pilots conclude the regular season at Saint Mary's on Saturday, Nov. 15.
