SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The 2025 West Coast Conference Baseball Tournament runs from May 21-24 at Las Vegas Ballpark in Las Vegas. Eight of the nine possible tournament games can be seen on ESPN+. The championship game on Saturday, May 24, will be seen on ESPNU at 1 p.m.
This is the fourth year of the current format for the West Coast Conference Baseball Tournament. Six teams qualified for the tournament, with the first day's action being single elimination before returning to the double-elimination format on the second day.
Four of the six teams in the field return after playing in last year's tournament - San Diego, Portland, Saint Mary's and Gonzaga. LMU returns after a one-year hiatus and San Francisco returns to the tournament field for the first time since 2022.
Regular Season champion San Diego is the No. 1 seed in the tournament after clinching the outright regular season title for the second straight year. USD will attempt to win the Conference tournament title for the second straight year after beating Portland in the 2024 championship game. The Toreros concluded the regular season on a four-game winning streak and have won five of their last six. Logan Reddemann led the league in ERA at 2.38. Performing at a high level both on the mound and as a position player, Austin Smith has been vital to USD's success this season. In conference games, he tied for the league lead in doubles with 10. He also batted .398 in West Coast Conference contests.
Gonzaga heads to Las Vegas as the No. 2 seed after taking two out of three at Portland last weekend with multiple teams trying to take the first-round bye from the Bulldogs. Erik Hoffberg had a lot to do with the Zags holding off the Pilots, recording two saves over the weekend, garnering Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors in the process. In conference games, Hoffberg led the league with six saves. At the plate, Mikey Bell paced the Bulldogs with his .365 batting average. He led his squad in multiple offensive categories including home runs (11) and doubles (16). Gonzaga closed out the regular season winning three of its last four.
No. 3 seed Saint Mary's heads to Las Vegas enjoying a five-game winning streak after sweeping Santa Clara at home during the final weekend of the regular season. Sporting an overall record of 31-23, the Gaels led the league in multiple offensive categories in overall games, including batting average (.296), runs (395), hits (536) and RBI (348). Individually, Eddie Madrigal paces the West Coast Conference in slugging percentage (.689), hits (76), RBI (66) and home runs (19).
No. 4 seed LMU blasted its way up to the fourth seed after sweeping Pepperdine in the final weekend of the regular season. The Lions rank first in the West Coast Conference in home runs (71), doubles (104) and triples (15). Beau Ankeney leads the league in runs scored with 65. He and freshman Nate Savoie rank second and third in home runs with 18 and 17, respectively. The Lions are back in the postseason after entering the 2023 West Coast Conference Tournament as the regular season champions.
No. 5 seed Portland already enjoyed a celebration earlier this season when Ryan Rembisz recorded a perfect game on Feb. 25 against Seattle. Tyler Howard leads the West Coast Conference in batting average (.372) and on-base percentage (.478) among regular starters. The Pilots will meet LMU in the first round, and when these teams met during the regular season in Portland, the Pilots took two out of three from the Lions. In conference games this season, Jonas Salk leads the league with his .807 slugging percentage.
San Diego sweeping Pacific propelled San Francisco back into the tournament field for the first time since 2022 as the No. 6 seed. The Dons are enjoying a five-game winning streak and won the regular-season series against first-round opponent Saint Mary's earlier in the year. Patrick Keighran paces the Dons with his .355 batting average. His 12 home runs are tied for the team lead with freshman Eddison Esquivel who won West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week three times this season.
