Kipchoge Wins West Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Runner Of The Week

Washington State earns its second conference weekly award this season

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Washington State's Solomon Kipchoge was tabbed the West Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the 8K at the Gans Creek Classic. 
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK – SOLOMON KIPCHOGE, SO.  – WASHINGTON STATE
Solomon Kipchoge won the men's gold 8k race at the Gans Creek Classic, helping Washington State finish 15th as a team. The race that included 20 of the top 30 teams nationally saw Kipchoge run a course-record and personal-best time of 22:24.7 seconds, winning by eight seconds over the second-place finisher. Kipchoge took the lead at the 6000m mark and never lost it. His final 1000m split time of 2:46.2 was the fastest among the top 15 finishers. This marks the second conference award for the Cougars this season.
