SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Loyola Marymount’s Gabrijel Burburan became the second straight player to sweep the KAP7 West Coast Conference Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week awards after the Lions defeated two ranked opponents.

Gabrijel Burburan was LMU’s top scoring threat as the No. 11 Lions swept a pair of ranked conference opponents — No. 20 Saint Mary’s and No. 8 Pacific — to improve to 3-0 in the WCC. Burburan led the team with six goals on eight shots (.750), tied for the team lead with six points and added two steals while winning both of his sprints. He opened the week with three goals on four shots in a 12-10 win at Saint Mary’s on Friday, including a goal with 1:33 left that restored a three-goal cushion as the Gaels mounted a late push. He followed with three more goals on four shots at Pacific on Sunday, then finished the game himself with the clutch moment of the week. After four quarters of regulation and two overtime halves weren't enough to separate the teams, Burburan fired home the winning goal in sudden death to seal a 12-11 victory for the Lions.
