Sniffen Wins Rawlings Baseball Player of the Week

LMU and San Francisco garner the conference's other two weekly awards

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Belting three home runs during a series victory over CSUN, Makoa Sniffen from Saint Mary's won Rawlings West Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, LMU's Jonah Johnson won Rawlings Pitcher of the Week and San Francisco's Thomas Gonzales took Rawlings West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week honors.

In the series against CSUN, Makoa Sniffen posted five hits, three of which were home runs, along with four runs and nine RBI. He belted a three-run homer in game two of the series and then boasted his first multi-homer game of his career in the series finale with a two-run and a three-run home run leading to the Gaels' 12-0 win. Sniffen also recorded a career-high three hits and five RBI on Sunday. This is Saint Mary's first conference weekly award this season.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – JONAH JOHNSON, SR. – LMU
Jonah Johnson collected eight strikeouts in five innings of shutout ball last Saturday, leaving the game with a 2-0 lead. He allowed just two hits and two walks in five innings of work. Johnson escaped a bases loaded jam in the first inning, but largely kept the basepaths clean in his first victory in 2026. This is LMU's first conference weekly award this season.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – THOMAS GONZALES, FR., P – SAN FRANCISCO
Thomas Gonzales appeared in two games on the mound for San Francisco last week, pitching 4.0 innings and allowing one hit, three walks and striking out three batters. Gonzales earned his first career start, striking out three batters in the first two innings against UC Davis last Wednesday. He added another two-inning outing out of the bullpen in the 9-3 series-clinching victory over San Jose State on Sunday, allowing just one hit and one walk. This is San Francisco's first conference weekly award this season.
