LAS VEGAS - No. 7 seed Seattle fended off the fiesty No. 11 seed San Diego with a 58-56 victory in the second round of the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Championship from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
With the win, Seattle U advances to play No. 6 seed Pacific on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
Will Heimbrodt led the way for the Redhawks with 16 points and nine rebounds, just shy of a double-double. Jojo Murphy added 12 points and five assists.
The Redhawks dominated in both bench points (23-11) and in points in the paint (36-12).
The Toreros featured three players reach double figures in scoring led by the 14 points by Vuk Boskovic. Assane Diop tallied 11 rebounds, as well. Fresh off beating LMU in the first round, USD came out firing, taking a five-point lead into the locker room at halftime.
