No. 3 Santa Clara Heads to Title Game

SCU will play in Tuesday's championship game

LAS VEGAS - No. 3 Santa Clara defeated No. 2 Saint Mary's for the second time this season in the semifinals of the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Championship from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The Broncos beat the Gaels, 76-71. 

With the victory, the Broncos advance to Tuesday's championship game against No. 1 seed Gonzaga at 6 p.m.

Sash Gavalyugov led the way for the Broncos with 23 points, including nailing a game-clinching shot in the final seconds. Elijah Mahi collected 19 points. Both Gavalyugov and Mahi went 9-for-16 from the floor. Mahi and Allen Graves also collected seven rebounds. 

Mikey Lewis and Paulius Murauskas and Mikey Lewis both went over 20 points in scoring. Murauskas led the way with 26 points while Lewis posted 23 points. 

The last time Santa Clara competed in the championship game of the conference tournament was 2007.
