San Diego's Gauna Wins Rawlings Baseball Player of the Week

Portland's Labonte once again wins freshman of the week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Racking up 10 strikeouts in a complete game victory Seattle U's Travis Farrell won Rawlings West Coast Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. San Diego's Andrew Gauna won Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week. For the second straight week Will Labonte from Portland claimed Rawlings West Coast Conference Freshmen of the Week. 

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ANDREW GAUNA, GR., OF – SAN DIEGO
Andrew Gauna amassed eight RBI, three home runs, six runs and two doubles in San Diego's sweep of Santa Clara last weekend, batting .500 (6-for-12) and slugging 1.417. Gauna homered in all three wins against the Broncos, launching solo shots on Thursday and Friday night before delivering a two-run blast in the series finale on Saturday. Also on Saturday, he drove in five runs, scored three more and drew a walk in the 13-7 win. This is San Diego's first conference weekly award this season.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – TRAVIS FARRELL, SR. – SEATTLE U
Travis Farrell went the distance in the Redhawks' 5-1 win over Portland last Thursday. In the complete game victory, Farrell struck out 10 batters, only allowing one earned run on a home run and three walks. This marks the second time in the last three weeks that a Redhawk has won conference pitcher of the week.

RAWLINGS WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASEBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – WILL LABONTE, FR., RHP – PORTLAND
Will Labonte earned the lone win last weekend for the Pilots last Saturday, throwing six innings with no runs and just two hits allowed along with six strikeouts in the 3-0 Portland victory. His six innings of work tied a career best while the two hits allowed tied for the fewest in his career. The victory also marked the fifth straight time the Pilots have won with Labonte starting. The Pilots now own four conference weekly awards this season and the last three in a row, as well.
