SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga and San Francisco are tied for first place in the West Coast Conference Baseball standings as this week's action is set to start. Both the Bulldogs and Dons are 9-3 in conference play, and the Bulldogs are enjoying a seven-game winning streak.
Saint Mary's stands in third at 8-4 (22-14 overall). The Gaels are hot right now, as well, currently on a five-game winning streak. Seattle U is in fourth place at 7-5 and also riding their own four-game winning streak.
The West Coast Conference garnered some national recognition this week as Mikey Bell from Gonzaga was named to the Baseball America National Team of the Week on Tuesday after being named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week the day before. Bell batted .640 for the week with two five-hit games.

This Week
Santa Clara starts this week's action tonight with a trip to Stanford at 6:05 p.m.
The weekend series feature a big test for USF as the Dons head to Portland to face a Pilots team with an RPI of No. 71 thanks in part to multiple non-conference wins over ranked in-state foes Oregon and Oregon State. Gonzaga leads the conference in RPI at No. 55.
Gonzaga heads to Moraga to battle third-place Saint Mary's in Moraga. Both teams' winning streaks will be tested in this pivotal series.
Seattle U looks to stay hot when the Redhawks face San Diego on the road as the Toreros, the defending West Coast Conference regular season champions, look to climb back up the conference standings after dropping two out of three to the Dons last week.
The PCH rivalry is renewed when Pepperdine heads to LMU this weekend.
Following the trip to Stanford, Santa Clara heads to Pacific to face the Tigers this weekend.
Last Week
Dating back to Monday, April 6, Gonzaga garnered a couple key non-conference wins - a 9-2 win at Washington and the following night an 8-5 win over the Huskies.
Portland beat Oregon for the second time this season in a slugfest last Wednesday, a 13-9 win for the Pilots. A game that went back and forth was capped by a three-run home run by Jonas Salk to put Portland up for good. The Pilots have won the last four over the Ducks.
In conference action last week, Seattle U swept LMU at home. The Pilots momentum after beating Oregon was stopped by Gonzaga as the Bulldogs swept the Pilots in Spokane. San Francisco took two out of three over San Diego to keep pace with Gonzaga in first place.
Saint Mary's swept Santa Clara, including a marathon 15-11 Sunday contest that went 13 innings.
Pacific picked up a big road series win at Pepperdine, taking two out of three over the Waves.
Saint Mary's extended its winning streak this past Monday with a high-scoring victory over Nevada at home, 16-10. Makoa Sniffen went 4-for-5 with 4 RBI and four runs.
Stat Leaders
San Francisco's Nick Bacura and Portland's Alex Via are both tied for ninth in the nation in saves with seven each. Santa Clara's Max Bayles continues to rack up the strikeouts. He ranks tied for 25th in the nation with 69 strikeouts. Also on the pitching side, Pacific's Garret Plata ranks 26th nationally in ERA (1.96).
In the conference ranks, Makoa Sniffen from Saint Mary's tops the league in RBI (38) along with his teammate Jacob Johnson. Gaels' pitcher John Damozonio leads the league in wins with six.
