Oregon State Wins West Coast Conference Rowing Championship

Beavers won all four Grand Final races on the day

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Oregon State captured the 2026 West Coast Conference Rowing Championship after winning all of the Grand Finals by open water on Saturday at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. 
 
The Beavers earned first-place finishes in the Grand Finals of the II Four, Four, II Eight and Eight on the morning for the second straight year.
 
Oregon State, ranked No. 20 in the latest Pocock CRCA Coaches' Poll, finished with 60 points to capture the team title. Washington State placed second as a team with 51 points and Gonzaga captured third with 45 points. San Diego (44 points) finished fourth, Saint Mary’s (35 points) placed fifth, Sacramento State (30 points) finished sixth with Portland (29 points) in seventh, Creighton eighth with 14 points, Santa Clara ninth (14 points) and Seattle U 10th with 8 points. Creighton earned the tiebreaker over Santa Clara due to finishing a place higher in the varsity eight. 
 
The Beavers raced down the course in 6:45.796 to capture the varsity eight Grand Final by open water. San Diego crossed the line in second with a time of 6:54.345, while Washington State took third with a time of 6:55.096.
 
Oregon State posted a win by the open water in the second varsity eight Grand Final, finishing with a time of 6:57.200. Washington State took the silver with a time of 7:03.594 and Gonzaga garnered the bronze with a time of 7:13.380.
 
The Beavers opened competition in the points-scoring races with a victory in the four Grand Final, posting a time of 7:28.395. Washington State captured the silver with a time of 7:42.794, followed by Gonzaga with the bronze with a time of 7:48.102.
 
The day opened with an exhibition Petite and Grand Final in the second varsity four. Oregon State captured the Grand Final with a time of 7:40.999, followed by Washington State (7:51.045) and Gonzaga (7:55.229).
 
For the second straight year, Oregon State’s Michael Eichler and Taylor Denger garnered individual honors. Eichler was voted the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year while Denger earned Coxswain of the Year honors. Fellow Beaver Lauren Garrett was the conference’s Rower of the Year. Winning the Newcomer of the Year was Washington State’s Eesha Raj. All individual awards were voted on solely by the league’s 10 head coaches. 
 
Oregon State has earned the West Coast Conference’s automatic qualification to the NCAA Division I Rowing Championship. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Tuesday, May 19 at 2 p.m. PT on NCAA.com. The NCAA Championship will take place May 29-31 in Gainesville, Ga. at Lake Lanier Olympic Park.
