SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Student-athletes from four different schools were honored this week for the West Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week awards, led by Offensive Player of the Week Petra Fritz of San Francisco. Pepperdine’s Laine Briggs captured the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second straight time, while Portland’s Havannah Hoeft took home the Setter of the Week honor and San Diego’s Emma Brewer was named the Freshman of the Week.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – PETRA FRITZ, SO., OH – SAN FRANCISCO
Petra Fritz led San Francisco offensively to three straight wins at the USF Challenge last weekend on the Hilltop with 46 kills, 4.60 kills per set, a .430 hitting percentage, 55.0 points, 5.5 points per set and eight service aces. Kickstarting the final slate of nonconference matches with a four-set win over Texas Southern, Fritz recorded her second double-double of the season with 18 kills and 10 digs. She followed with another 18-kill performance in the victory over Northern Arizona and then totaled a season-best .692 hitting percentage in the sweep of California Baptist to close the tournament. This is the second weekly conference award for the Dons this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LAINE BRIGGS, SR, DS/L - PEPPERDINE
Laine Briggs captured the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second consecutive week after helping Pepperdine defeat UC Santa Barbara 3-1 on Friday and then sweep No. 19 USC 3-0 on Saturday in Los Angeles. Against the Gauchos, Briggs tallied a team-high 15 digs and posted two service aces. She recorded a team-best 16 digs along with one service ace in L.A.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – EMMA BREWER, FR., OH – SAN DIEGO
Emma Brewer shined in both of San Diego's wins over the weekend, totaling 23 kills (3.29 K/S), 16 digs, seven blocks, two service aces, and an assist as the Toreros defeated Arizona and San Diego State at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. She had 10 kills (3.33 K/S), an assist, two digs and two blocks on Thursday night in a 3-0 sweep of the Wildcats, then erupted for a double-double with 13 kills (3.25 K/S), a remarkable 14 digs (3.50 D/S), five block assists, and two service aces in Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Aztecs. USD now owns two weekly conference awards this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE SETTER OF THE WEEK – HAVANNAH HOEFT, SR., S – PORTLAND
Havannah Hoeft tallied 121 total assists and 37 total digs in Portland wins over Cal State Bakersfield 3-1, Nevada 3-2 and Eastern Washington 3-0. Her 49 assists against Nevada, 37 assists against Bakersfield and 35 assists against Eastern Washington were all match highs.
