SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference is pleased to announce its 2020 Women’s Rowing All-Academic team, comprised of 17 student-athletes who have excelled this season both in the classroom and on the water.
Nine student-athletes on the 17-member first team are repeat honorees, all making the squad for the second straight season. Repeat winners are as follows:
Clare Adams (San Diego),
Jacquelyn Bass (LMU),
Anna Davis (LMU),
Katie Graham (Creighton),
Maren Johnson (Gonzaga),
Irish Manalang (Santa Clara),
Mollie Mertes (Santa Clara)
Schuyler Peters (Gonzaga) and
Elli Schroeder (Santa Clara).
Bass is joined on the first team by her sister,
Audrey Bass, from LMU.
LMU’s
Jessica Apodaca (Educational Studies) and San Diego’s
Susie Taylor (Leadership Studies) each posted a 4.0 GPA in their respective Master’s programs.
This season, a whopping 52 student-athletes turned in a 3.50 GPA while 30 registered 3.75 or above.
No fewer than 88 WCC student-athletes met the academic criteria for women’s rowing. LMU and San Diego led all programs with 18 student-athletes meeting the minimum academic standards for consideration, followed by Gonzaga (15), Creighton (13) and Saint Mary’s (11).
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
