SAN MATEO, Calif. – Ashley Trierweiler brought home Santa Clara softball’s first WCC weekly award of the season as the sophomore was tabbed WCC Player of the Week. In the circle, BYU’s Chloe Temples earned her second WCC Pitcher of the Week accolade after first winning the award for the opening week of the season.
#WCCSPORTS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ASHLEY TRIERWEILER, SO., OF – SCU
Ashley Trierweiler went 7-for-10 in three games last weekend, boasting six RBI and five runs scored, helping the Broncos win twice over the weekend. In a win over Marist, the Broncos scored nine runs, sending 13 batters to the plate in the first inning. Trierweiler scored twice in the opening frame, leading off the game with a walk and singled in two runs in her second at-bat. Trierweiler again was the catalyst in the early scoring efforts by the Broncos in a 9-1 win over North Dakota. SCU opened the scoring in the top of the first when Trierweiler led the game off with a single before eventually scoring. In the second inning, Trierweiler notched an RBI single to make it 3-0 Santa Clara and finished the game going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. The centerfielder also had two walks over the weekend for a .750 on-base percentage.

#WCCSPORTS PITCHER OF THE WEEK – CHLOE TEMPLES, JR. – BYU
Temples earned a win and a save in two games of work last weekend. On Thursday, she garnered a save in two innings pitched to clinch BYU’s 5-2 win over Idaho State. Temples picked up two strikeouts during those two frames. Two days later on Saturday, she earned the win when the Cougars beat Southern Utah, 7-0. Temples struck out eight batters over six innings, allowing just three hits and one walk in the shutout victory.
