SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Pepperdine has once again been selected as the favorite to win the 2024 West Coast Conference Women’s Tennis regular season title in the WCC's preseason poll that was announced on Tuesday.
The preseason poll and All-WCC preseason team were selected solely by a vote of the conference's nine head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams and student-athletes.
In the Oracle/ITA Division I Women’s preseason rankings, Pepperdine is currently ranked No. 8. Pepperdine received eight first-place votes and 64 total points in the WCC poll. The Waves were followed by San Diego and LMU, with USD earning the other first-place vote along with its 57 points.
Pepperdine defeated San Diego to claim its ninth consecutive West Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament Championship in 2023. The Waves advanced to the third round in the NCAA Tournament.
Pepperdine claimed half of the spots on the six-player preseason team. San Diego featured two players on the preseason squad and one for LMU.
The 2024 season gets underway on Friday, Jan. 12.
