SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Picking up the highest-ranked win of her career, Maxine Murphy from Washington State won West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week. Pepperdine earned the other two awards with Sonja Zhiyenbayeva winning two awards, Freshman of the Week and Doubles Team of the Week with Živa Falkner.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – MAXINE MURPHY, SR. – WASHINGTON STATE
Against No. 16 Pepperdine, Maxine Murphy posted the biggest win of her career when she defeated No. 10 Anastasiia Grechkina at No. 2 singles. Murphy posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Grechkina. The Wave grabbed an early break to lead 2-0, before Murphy won six of the next seven games to take the first set, 6-3. In the second, it was close throughout until Murphy grabbed a late break of serve to close out a 6-3, 6-4 win. The victory was the highest-ranked win for a Cougar player since Michaela Bayerlova defeated No. 9 Chloe Beck of Duke at the NCAA Championships, May 24, 2022. This is Murphy's first conference weekly award and the second overall for the Cougars.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – SONJA ZHIYENBAYEVA, FR., ZIVA FALKNER, TR PEPPERDINE
The Waves pair went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Waves last week, including a pair of conference wins to go along with a ranked victory over No. 24 Stanford. Their match at No. 10 California went unfinished at 4-4. This is the second time this pair has won conference doubles team of the week, and the Waves have won the award four times total.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – SONJA ZHIYENBAYEVA, FR. – PEPPERDINE
Sonja Zhiyenbayeva went 3-0 last week in singles and 3-0 in doubles as the Waves were 5-0 as a team with three ranked victories. She has now won this award five times this season.
