LMU Once Again Wins Two Women's Tennis Player Of The Week Awards

Seattle U takes doubles team of the week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second straight week, LMU claimed two of three West Coast Conference women's tennis player of the week awards with Lidia Gonzalez winning West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week and Sofia Perovani winning West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week. Seattle U won West Coast Conference Doubles Team of the Week with Lamija Avdic and Natalia Michta garnering the award.   
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LIDIA GONZALEZ, GR. – LMU
Lidia Gonzalez led the Lions on the No. 1 court against two tough opponents. In LMU’s 4-2 road win over UC San Diego, Gonzalez clinched the match in straight sets. She followed that performance leading against San Diego State’s Jo-Yee Chan, 6-3, 5-7, 5-4 before the match was left unfinished due to the team result. This is the second straight conference singles player of the week award for LMU.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – LAMIJA AVDIC, JR., NATALIA MICHTA, SR., SEATTLE U
The Redhawk tandem went undefeated in doubles, defeating the top pairs from UC Riverside and Oregon. This is Seattle U's first conference weekly award this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – SOFIA PEROVANI, FR. – LMU
Sofia Perovani went 2-0 on court 5 last week, playing a key role in LMU’s 4-2 road victory over UC San Diego. Perovani secured a 6-3, 6-1 straight-sets win to power the Lions’ comeback. She followed that against San Diego State, opening with a 6-0 set before closing out with a 6-0, 6-3 victory. This is the second straight week LMU has won conference freshman weekly honors.
