Pepperdine Wins 2026 Women's Tennis Tournament

The Waves beat San Diego, 4-1

FAIRFIELD, Calif. - No. 1 seed Pepperdine defeated No. 2 San Diego, 4-1, in the championship match of the West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Tournament at the Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.

Pepperdine has won every West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Tournament since 2013. 

Pepperdine picked up two tough wins in doubles with 6-4 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to take the 1-0 advantage. 

Ziva Falkner took care of business quickly on the No. 1 court in singles with a straight-set win to increase the Waves' lead to 2-0. 

Chantal Sauvant increased the Pepperdine lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court four. 

San Diego picked up a win on court two with Vilma Krebs Hyllested winning 7-6, 6-3.

The Waves clinched the conference championship on court No. 3 with the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year Sonja Zhiyenbayeva recovering from a first-set loss to win, 2-6, 6-0, 7-6. 

Pepperdine has earned the conference automatic qualification into the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show will take place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. PT.
