No. 3 Washington State Sweeps No. 6 Santa Clara

The Cougars will play San Diego in the semifinals

FAIRFIELD, Calif. - No. 3 seed Washington State swept No. 6 seed Santa Clara, in the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Women's Tennis Tournament at the Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.

The Cougars wasted no time taking control of the match, winning the doubles point after a 6-1 win on court three and a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court. 

The momentum shifted to singles where Maxine Murphy was the first to finish on the second court with a 6-4, 6-1, dominant victory. 

The next to Cougar wins come back-to-back with Martina Puvill winning on court three, 6-4, 6-0 and Chisato Kanemaki garnering a 6-4, 6-2 win on the No. 5 court. 

With the win, the Cougars will play No. 2 seed San Diego Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.
