SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The 2024 West Coast Conference women's tennis regular season wraps up this week with a Conference regular season title on the line and teams vying for spots in next week's WCC Tennis Tournament in San Diego.
Pepperdine and San Diego await each other this week, both undefeated in Conference play at 4-0 each.
In The Rankings
Pepperdine begins the week ranked No. 8 in the nation, while San Diego is in the top 25 at No. 21.
One of the nation's best doubles tandems, Pepperdine's Savannah Broadus and Janice Tjen remain ranked No. 2 in the country. Two Waves also rank in the top 15 in singles - No. 13 Broadus and No. 14 Lisa Zaar.
This Week
The final week of the regular season began today with San Diego hosting San Francisco.
Friday's action is highlighted by the matchup between the Waves and the Toreros. Also on Friday, USF hosts Gonzaga and LMU hosts Saint Mary's.
On Saturday, the Gaels will go head to head with the Waves in Malibu, while Porltand hosts Pacific and Santa Clara hosts Gonzaga.
The final match of the regular season takes place on Sunday when LMU heads to the Bay Area to battle San Francisco.
Last Week
Saint Mary's picked up two key wins last week to remain in the title hunt, in addition to Pepperdine and San Diego. The Gaels swept Santa Clara and San Francisco to bring its Conference record up to 5-1, good for third in the league.
San Diego held on to win at Portland, 4-3, and also topped Gonzaga, 4-1.
After a tough loss to No. 15 UCLA, Pepperdine rebounded with a pair of sweeps over Portland and Gonzaga.
This past Tuesday, Pacific defeated Santa Clara, 4-1, to clinch a .500 record or more in Conference play this season.
