Pepperdine, Gomez Extend Lead In Second Round At WCC Women's Golf Championship

BREMERTON. Wash. – Pepperdine extended its lead in the second round of the 2024 West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship at Gold Mountain Golf Course on Saturday, shooting one-under 287 for a 36-hole score of one-over 577. Waves golfer Lauren Gomez turned in a Round 2 low score of four-under 68 and is six-under through 36 holes combined with a four-stroke lead.
 
San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Gonzaga are all within three strokes or less from one another. USF (+24, 600) and SCU (+26, 602) are two strokes apart while the Broncos and Gonzaga (+27 603) are one stroke apart.
 
Pepperdine's Lion Higo (71, 71), Grace Lee (73, 71) of Gonzaga, and Jeneath Wong (73, 72) from Pepperdine are in second, third, and fourth, respectively. Toni Sottile from San Francisco (79, 70), Chaewon Baek of Gonzaga (77, 72), and Santa Clara's Meva Schmit (76, 73) are tied for fifth place through two rounds. Gomez and Higo were once again the only two participants in the tournament field that shot under par. The pair have combined for 17 birdies through 36 holes.
 
Pepperdine leads the pack with 24 birdies in the event while Santa Clara and Gonzaga are next with 23 and 22 birdies. 
 
The WCC Women’s Golf Championship concludes tomorrow from Gold Mountain Golf Course.
