Oregon State and Pepperdine Earn NCAA Women’s Golf Regional Bids

San Francisco’s Riana Mission selected as an individual for the third time in her career

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the second time in four years, the West Coast Conference earned multiple NCAA Women’s Golf Regional bids, as West Coast Conference Champion Oregon State and Pepperdine were selected to the 72-team field of the NCAA Division I Championship on Wednesday. For the third time in her standout career, San Francisco’s Riana Mission earned an NCAA Regional selection as an individual.
 
Oregon State, which earned the West Coast Conference’s automatic bid with the conference title, is the No. 8 seed in the Norman Regional, which will be played at the Jimmie Austin Oklahoma Golf Club. The 12-team Norman Regional in order of seeding is Stanford, Northwestern, North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, Oklahoma, Baylor, Oregon State, Tulsa, Denver, Furman and Southern Mississippi.
 
Pepperdine earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Regionals, marking the 26th consecutive season the Waves have earned an NCAA bid. Pepperdine is the No. 7 seed in the Lexington Regional, which will be played at Keene Trace Golf Course. The 12-team Lexington Regional in order of seeding is Florida State, USC, TCU, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Georgia Southern, Pepperdine, Louisville, Miami, Western Kentucky, Morehead State and Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
Oregon State earned its eighth consecutive NCAA Regional selection, tying a program record. The Beavers are led by West Coast Conference Coach of the Year, Dawn Shockley, who guided the Beavers to the conference crown last week at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, California, with a two-stroke win over Pepperdine. Sophomore Raya Nakao earned medalist honors at the West Coast Conference Championship. Oregon State ranks 51st in the latest SCOREBOARD By Clippd rankings with six top-five performances this season. Along with the team title at the West Coast Conference Championship, the Beavers captured the title at the Causeway Invitational hosted by UC Davis in February.
 
The Beavers have advanced to the NCAA Championship each of the last two seasons. OSU finished fifth at the Winston-Salem Regional and placed 22nd after three rounds of the NCAA Championship in 2024.
 
Pepperdine, ranked No. 40 in the latest SCOREBOARD by Clippd rankings, is looking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the third consecutive season and 15th time in program history. The Waves are coming off a second-place finish at the West Coast Conference Championship. Pepperdine has recorded five top-three finishes this season, highlighted by a team title at the Silicon Valley Showcase hosted by Santa Clara.
 
Last season, Pepperdine finished fifth in the East Lansing Regional and earned a spot at the NCAA Championship, where the Waves placed 19th after three rounds of the NCAA Championship and did not make the cut. In 2023, Pepperdine shared the title at the San Antonio Regional and finished eighth in stroke play at the NCAA Championship to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals and match play, falling 3-1 to Stanford.
 
Mission is one of 36 individuals (six at each regional) not part of one of the 72 teams selected to compete in the NCAA Regionals. She will compete in the Norman Regional. A four-time All-West Coast Conference selection, Mission ranks 73rd in the latest SCOREBOARD By Clippd individual rankings. She tied for fifth at the West Coast Conference Championship last week and owns five top-10 finishes this season. She earned medalist honors at The Leadership and Golf Invitational and The Molly Collegiate Invitational this season. Mission also competed at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur earlier this season along with Pepperdine’s Jeneath Wong an Eunseo Choi.
 
Last season, Mission tied for 24th competing as an individual at the Cle Elum Regional. In her first NCAA Regional appearance, Mission tied for 47th at the Stanford Regional in 2022.
 
The six NCAA regionals will be played May 5-7, with the top five teams and top individual from each regional advancing to the NCAA Championship final site in Carlsbad, California. The NCAA Championship will be held May 16-May 21 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
