West Coast Conference Enjoys Record Setting Year In Women’s Golf

Waves and Beavers both competed at NCAA Championships

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – For the third time in the past five seasons, West Coast Conference women's golf garnered multiple bids to the NCAA Regionals, as conference champions Pepperdine earned the No. 2 seed and Oregon State the No. 9 seed in the Stanford Regional. Santa Clara’s Kelsey Kim and San Francisco’s Eva Pett were selected as individuals as well in the Stanford Regional. 
 
At the Stanford Regional, Pepperdine finished second at four-under and Oregon State in third shooting four-over 854 to advance to the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. This marked the first time in conference history that multiple West Coast Conference women’s golf programs earned a spot at the NCAA Championships. The West Coast Conference was also the only conference outside of the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, and SEC to send multiple programs to Carlsbad. 
 
Individually at the Stanford Regional, Pepperdine’s Jeneath Wong finished third at nine-under 204. Wong finished the second round eight-under 63, tied for the best score at the Stanford Regional. Eunseo Choi of Pepperdine finished tied for 10th, while Santa Clara’s Kelsey Kim was tied for 12th and Oregon State’s Kate Nakaoka finished at 14. San Francisco’s individual Eva Pett finished at tied for 15. 
 
At the NCAA Championships, the Beavers battled for three rounds to finish in 30th place. Pepperdine, after surviving the cut down to the top 15 after the third round, went three-over 292 on the fourth day to earn a top-8 finish in stroke play to advance to match play. This was the second time Pepperdine advanced to match play since the NCAA implemented it in 2015. 
 
The Waves lost to top-seed and eventual national champion Stanford in the quarterfinals, earning a tie for fifth place. This was the sixth time in program history the Waves earned a top-five finish at the NCAA Championships and have collected 10 top-10 finishes. 
 
Pepperdine finished No. 10 in the final SCOREBOARD rankings of the season, with Oregon State coming in at No. 47. Eunseo Choi ranks No. 20 in the individual rankings with teammates Kylee Choi and Wong coming in at No. 29 and No. 43, respectfully. 
 
The West Coast Conference garnered three student-athletes that earned All-America honors with all three coming from Pepperdine. Eunseo Choi picked up WGCA Second Team and Golfweek Third Team honors, while Wong and Kylee Choi both collected honorable mentions for both WGCA and Golfweek honors.
