Pepperdine Picked As Favorite In West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Preseason Poll

Last season’s Player of the Year, Kyra Ly, and Freshman of the Year, Eunseo Choi, highlight preseason team

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine was selected as the favorite to win the 2026 West Coast Conference Women’s Golf championship, as the Conference’s preseason poll and preseason team was announced Thursday.

The preseason poll and preseason all-conference team was selected solely by a vote of the Conference's eight head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or student-athletes.

Pepperdine, one of two West Coast Conference teams to earn an NCAA Regional selection last season, received seven first-place votes and 49 points to lead the preseason poll. The Waves are No. 9 in the latest SCOREBOARD by Clippd rankings. Oregon State, which captured the 2025 West Coast Conference Championship and received the Conference’s automatic qualification to the NCAA Regionals, is second in the preseason poll with one first-place vote and 43 points. The Beavers enter the season No. 45 in the SCOREBOARD by Clppd rankings. Santa Clara is third with 32 points, while Washington State is fourth with 29 points. Gonzaga and Seattle U are tied for fifth with 21 points and San Francisco is right behind them in seventh with 20 points. Augusta, in its first year as an affiliate member, is eighth with nine points.

Pepperdine placed four on the West Coast Conference preseason team, while Oregon State placed three. San Francisco, Santa Clara and Washington State each had one individual on the team. Five of the 10 members of the preseason team were on the 2025 postseason all-conference team, including Eunseo Choi and Jeneath Wong of Pepperdine, Kyra Ly and Raya Nakao of Oregon State and Eva Pett of San Francisco. Ly was the West Coast Conference Player of the Year and Eunseo Choi was the West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year last spring. Pepperdine’s Kylee Choi is one of three freshmen on the team. She is the highest-ranked West Coast Conference player in the SCOREBOARD by Clppd rankings at No. 12. The other freshmen are Kaitlyn Helm of Washington State and Kate Nakaoka of Oregon State. Grace Anderson of Pepperdine and Kelsey Kim of Santa Clara were also selected to the preseason team. The West Coast Conference has three in the top 50 of the SCOREBOARD by Clppd individual rankings. Along with Kylee Choi, Eunseo Choi is ranked No. 36 and Ly is No. 49.

The 2026 women’s golf season begins Feb. 1 with several teams in action during the first week of February. The West Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship will be held April 25-27 at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.
