SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sacramento State joins the West Coast Conference as an affiliate member in women’s rowing, while Creighton extends its affiliate membership with the WCC. Sacramento State will begin its first season competing in the Conference in the 2025 season.
Creighton and Sacramento State join full members Gonzaga, Portland, Saint Mary’s, San Diego and Santa Clara; and affiliate members Oregon State and Washington State, giving the WCC nine women’s rowing members. Seattle will join the WCC as a full member beginning with the 2025-26 academic year and compete in the Conference in women’s rowing beginning with the 2026 season.
“The renewal from Creighton and addition of Sacramento State in women's rowing strengthens the membership, adds to the profile of competitive excellence and the student-athlete experience, and expands the conference footprint,” West Coast Conference Commissioner Stu Jackson said. “We appreciate the continued partnership with Creighton and look forward to welcoming Sacramento State to the Conference.”
Creighton women's rowing is entering its 15th season as an affiliate member in the West Coast Conference (2011-24).
Sacramento State women's rowing competed as an affiliate member of the American Athletic Conference the last 10 seasons (2015-24), spent one season in Conference USA (2014), and were members of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) from 1995-2013.
All nine programs will compete in the 2025 WCC Women’s Rowing Championship, which will be held at Lake Natoma, in Gold River, California, in May. The winner of the WCC Women’s Rowing Championship will receive and automatic qualification to the NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship.
