SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Defending WCC champions Saint Mary's was voted as preseason favorites in the 2025 WCC Softball annual preseason coaches poll, as announced on Thursday by the Conference.
 
The coaches poll and preseason All-WCC team were selected solely by a vote of the conference's six head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams and student-athletes.
 
The Gaels amassed 24 points and four first-place votes. LMU, which had been the previous two consecutive conference preseason favorites, finished second in the poll with 19 points and one first-place vote. New affiliate member Oregon State garnered the last first-place vote with 17 points for third place.  
 
Saint Mary's had the most players on the preseason team with four, earning three among the position players and one pitcher. LMU and Santa Clara boasted three players on the preseasaon team, while Oregon State and San Diego each featured two representatives among the 15-member team.  
 
Five members of the preseaon team were also named to the 2024 All-WCC preseason team - Hannah Edwards (Santa Clara), Hannah Ferguson (Saint Mary's), Hazyl Gray (Santa Clara), Izzy Jamgotchian (LMU) and Taylor Lane (Saint Mary's). This marks Edwards' thrid straight appearance on the preseason team. 
 
First pitch for the 2025 season is set for Thursday, Feb. 6.
