SAN BRUNO, Calif. – In the final weekend of the West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo regular season, Pepperdine sweeps the Conference honors after defeating No. 17 Santa Clara, 15-9. Erik Ionescu earned the KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Player of the Week, announced by the Conference on Tuesday, while freshman Csanád Bella collected the KAP7 West Coast Conference Men's Water Polo Newcomer of the Week. These are the Waves' second and third conference honors of the season.
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ERIK IONESCU, SO. – PEPPERDINE
Attacker Erik Ionescu led Pepperdine to a 15-9 victory over Santa Clara in its final match of the regular season. Ionescu garnered a team-high four goals while adding a steal and two field blocks in the effort. This is his first conference recognition this season.
KAP7 WEST COAST CONFERENCE MEN'S WATER POLO PLAYER & NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – CSANÁD BELLA, FR. – PEPPERDINE
Freshman Csanád Bella added three goals of his own in the 15-9 defeat of the Broncos over the weekend. Bella also added two drawn exclusions and two field blocks in the match for the Waves. This is his first conference honors of the season.
