Santa Clara Sweeps First WCC Softball Weekly Honors Of 2025

Cairah Curran was named Player of the Week and Hazyl Gray was recognized as the Pitcher of the Week as the Broncos won the Paradise Classic Championship

SAN BRUNO, Calif. –  Santa Clara to sweep the first Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Softball weekly honors of the season, as Cairah Curran was named the Heluva Good Dip Player of the Week and Hazyl Gray was tabbed the Heluva Good Dip Pitcher of the Week. 
 
The Broncos won consecutive games during the opening weekend of the season to capture the Paradise Classic Championship in Hawaii.

HELUVA GOOD DIP WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CAIRAH CURRAN, SO., OF – SANTA CLARA
Cairah Curran was named MVP of the Paradise Classic after a high-powered weekend in Hawaii. Curran, who earned All-WCC Second Team honors last season and was tabbed the 2024 WCC Defensive Player of the Year, went 11-for-19 on the weekend, collecting six RBI for the Broncos. Curran finished with a slash line of 579/.579/.789. She was 9-of-12 over the last three games.

HELUVA GOOD DIP WCC PITCHER OF THE WEEK – HAZYL GRAY, JR. – SANTA CLARA
The 2024 WCC Softball Player of the Year, Hazyl Gray, powered through 10 shutout innings to help Santa Clara win the Paradise Classic. Gray, who was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts, held Southern Indiana to two hits over 4.2 innings in the Broncos’ 9-0 win. In the championship game against the host Hawaii, Gray once again shut down the opposing offense. Hawaii only mustered four hits over 5.1 innings against Gray, who also notched a sacrifice fly to give Santa Clara an insurance run in the 3-0 victory.
