Saint Mary's Sweeps West Coast Conference Softball Weekly Honors

Tori Cervantes named Player of the Week and Mia Nishikawa honored as Pitcher of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Tori Cervantes and Mia Nishikawa from Saint Mary's took home Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Softball weekly honors on Monday. Cervantes was named the Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week after driving in the go-ahead runs in all three of the Gaels' victories over Oregon State. Nishikawa was honored as the Heluva Good Dip West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week after a resilient series of outings in Corvallis.

Tori Cervantes hit a go-ahead two-run home run against Oregon State in the series opener, drove in the tying and go-ahead runs in game two and drove in the go-ahead run in game three. She launched two home runs during the series, bringing her season total to six. Cervantes drove in a total of six runs against the Beavers. This is the fourth time this season that a Gael has captured Conference player of the week honors.

HELUVA GOOD DIP WEST COAST CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK – MIA NISHIKAWA, SO. – SAINT MARY'S
Mia Nishikawa pitched in two of the wins for Saint Mary’s over Oregon State this past weekend. Nishikawa stranded the tying run at second on three separate occasions, picking up her 20th career win and ninth this season. Nishikawa posted five consecutive scoreless frames on Saturday, giving up three runs in the finale, leading to her third multi-win week of the year. This is the second time this season that Nishikawa has garnered West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, and the fifth time this season overall for Saint Mary's.
