West Coast Conference Softball Roundup - April 9

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara leads all West Coast Conference Softball teams with 23 wins on the year, with LMU and Saint Mary's also sporting winning conference records after the opening weekend of West Coast Conference play. 

Sam Buckley of Saint Mary's was named D1 Softball and NCFA National Player of the Week after her outburst the week of March 18-23. Buckley had up 11 hits, 15 RBI, and 11 runs scored, helping the Gaels score 43 runs over four games.

This Week
Teams continue to dip in and out of conference play over the course of this week. Today, Saint Mary's hosts Florida State, Pacific travels to Cal, and Oregon State hosts Portland State. 

During the weekend, West Coast Conference play resumes with Pacific traveling to Santa Clara and San Diego traveling to LMU for three-game sets. 

Last Week
Santa Clara swept its opening conference series against San Diego, outscoring the Toreros 20-2 over the course of the weekend. The Broncos were the only team to go 3-0 after the first series of conference action. 

LMU took both games against Oregon State before its third game was postponed due to weather. The Lions held the Beavers to four runs over the course of the two games. Saint Mary's took two out of three games against Pacific in Stockton.

Santa Clara's Cairah Curran is third in the nation in hits with 62 and 19th in the nation in batting average at .470.

Saint Mary's Sam Buckley is seventh in the nation in slugging percentage at 1.000 and 17th in batting average at .471.
