Falkner defeated second-ranked singles player in the country to clinch Pepperdine's upset road victory at No. 12 Texas. Falkner defeated Carmen Herea in three sets after dropping the first set and making a comeback to garner the win.

Anastasiia Grechkina and Chantal Sauvant picked up a pair of doubles victories on court two against Illinois and No. 12 Texas, helping the Waves start the season with two wins. They won both doubles matches by the score of 6-4.

Sonja Zhiyenbayeva began her collegiate career with a pair of singles victories on the third court, helping Pepperdine defeat Illinois and No. 12 Texas to start the year 2-0. She also went 1-1 in doubles last week.
