Oregon State Sweeps Softball Players Of The Week

Butler tabbed the conference's player of the week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. –  A no-hitter and a .500 batting average for the week led to Oregon State sweeping this week's West Coast Conference softball weekly awards. Jaeya Butler was tabbed the West Coast Conference Player of the Week while Bailey Murray won Pitcher of the Week. These are Oregon State's first conference weekly awards of the season. 

WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAEYA BUTLER, JR., INF – OREGON STATE
Jaeya Butler hit .500 with four home runs, two doubles, 11 RBI, two stolen bases and a 1.136 slugging percentage across six games (four victories) at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. She homered in four different games, including against California Baptist, while also driving in a fifth-inning run before scoring on the next play to tie the game. Butler homered again in a 4-2 win over Nevada. She was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one home run, four runs and five RBI in a 17-0 win over Bethune-Cookman. Butler followed that up by hitting 3-for-4 with another home run and three RBI against CSUN.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE PITCHER OF THE WEEK – BAILEY MURRAY, FR. – OREGON STATE
Bailey Murray threw her first collegiate no hitter as part of a 0.76 ERA across six appearances and 18.1 innings pitched at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. She struck out 11 and held opposing hitters to a 0.83 batting average while collecting two victories. She started the weekend by allowing just two hits and striking out four in a 7.1 inning relief appearance against California Baptist. Murray preserved leads with 0.2 innings pitched in a win over Nevada and one inning of work against Hawaii, which resulted in a 4-2 win. Murray then threw a no-hitter in OSU’s five inning, 17-0 win over Bethune Cookman, striking out three. She added three more strikeouts in four innings of work during the Beavs’ 6-2 victory over Long Beach State.
