San Diego Sweeps Men's Tennis Players Of The Week

Tarvet once again wins singles player of the week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. –  After taking care of business in the key pivotal match against Pepperdine last week, San Diego swept this week's West Coast Conference Men's Tennis Players of the Week. For the second straight week, Oliver Tarvet won Singles Player of the Week, while Tarvet and Stian Klaassen won Doubles Team of the Week. Vincent Marysko won Freshman of the Week for the first time this season.    
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – OLIVER TARVET SR. – SAN DIEGO
Oliver Tarvet won his 11th-straight singles match and improved to 17-2 on the season in No. 16 USD's unbeaten week. In the Toreros' fifth-straight sweep in conference play at No. 51 LMU, Tarvet, currently ranked No. 21 in the ITA rankings, was first to finish in singles with a near perfect 6-0, 6-1 win. In the 4-1 win over No. 29 Pepperdine, he won on the main court again, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 to clinch the match and at least a share of the conference title for the Toreros. Tarvet has now won conference singles player of the week for the fourth time this season and for the second straight week.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – OLIVER TARVET, SR., STIAN KLAASSEN, SR., SAN DIEGO
The ITA All-American National Champion duo reunited for the first time this season with a pair of doubles wins that set the tone in both of No. 16 USD's conference wins to remain unbeaten. In the Toreros' fifth straight sweep at No. 51 LMU, the pair was first to finish with a 6-3 win. In the 4-1 win over No. 29 Pepperdine, they were first to finish with a dominant 6-1 victory. USD has now won conference doubles team of the week three times this season.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – VINCENT MARYSKO, FR. – SAN DIEGO
Vincent Marysko went 1-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles last week. In the fifth straight sweep for No. 16 USD, he won 6-3 to clinch doubles and 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to clinch the 4-0 win against LMU. In USD's 4-1 win over No. 29 Pepperdine, he won, 6-3, clinching a crucial doubles point en route to the Toreros winning at least a share of the conference title.
