FAIRFIELD, Calif. - No. 1 seed San Diego overcame a 3-1 deficit and hung on to beat No. 2 Pepperdine, 4-3, in the championship match of the West Coast Conference Men's Tennis Tournament at the Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.

USD has now won 10 of the last 11 tournament titles and the last three in a row. 

The match started with a wild set of doubles. Pepperdine won the first battle on court 3, 6-4, before USD evened it out with a win on the second court, also by the score of 6-4. It came down to the No. 1 court that went back and forth the entire match. Edward Winter and David Fix held off the Toreros for a 7-6 win, clinching the doubles point for the Waves. 

Fix picked up his second win of the day on the No. 6 court in singles, a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win to increase the Waves' lead to 2-0. 

Adrien Berrut got USD on the board on the court four with a straight-set victory to cut the Pepperdine lead to 2-1. Maxi Homberg put the Waves on the verge of the conference title with his win on court five, 6-4, 6-4. 

On the No. 1 court, Oliver Tarvet gave the Toreros their second win of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 win, cutting the Waves' lead to 3-2. 

The match came down to two epic battles on courts two and three. On court two, Manvydas Balciunas tied the match at 3 with a 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 comeback win. 

After the win by Balciunas, a third set started on court 3 between Stian Klaassen and Aleksa Pisaric. The third set went to the tiebreaker with the championship on the line. Klaassen hung on to win the tiebreaker, clinching the conference tournament title for USD. 

The Toreros have earned the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show will air on Monday at 1 p.m. PT.
