Lemaitre Wins Men's Tennis Singles Player Of The Week

The Broncos take two of the final conference weekly awards of 2026

SAN BRUNO, Calif. –  After earning a share of the conference regular season title for the first time in program history last week, Santa Clara won two of this week's West Coast Conference Men's Tennis Players of the Week. Luca Lemaitre won Singles Player of the Week, while Ferran Redza won Freshman of the Week. Saint Mary's garnered the other conference weekly award as Thibaud Maxant and Finn Dyer claimed Doubles Team of the Week.     
 
WEST COAST CONFERENCE SINGLES PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LUCA LEMAITRE JR. – SANTA CLARA
Luca Lemaitre won a pair of match clinchers on court two last week against opponents from No. 51 LMU and No. 16 San Diego. His win against San Diego secured Santa Clara a share of the conference crown. With the Broncos ahead 3-2, Lemaitre defeated Stian Klaassen 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 for his eighth straight singles victory. Earlier in the week on Monday, the Bronco junior beat LMU's Cesar Cruz 6-3, 6-4 to close out Santa Clara's 4-0 shutout victory. This is the first time this season that Santa Clara won Singles Player of the Week.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE DOUBLES TEAM OF THE WEEK – THIBAUD MAXANT, GR., FINN DYER, SO., SAINT MARY'S
Thibaud Maxant and Finn Dyer went 2-0 last weekend and helped Saint Mary's earn two huge wins in clinching the six seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament. The pair leads the Gaels with 11 doubles wins on the season. This is the first time this season a Gael tandem won conference Doubles Team of the Week. 

WEST COAST CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – FERRAN REDZA, FR. – SANTA CLARA
Ferran Redza won one doubles match in the win against No. 51 LMU and one singles match in the win over No. 16 San Diego last week. Paired with Valenin Faure on court three, the tandem defeated LMU's Cyrus Ahmad and Darius Tamaddon 6-2 for the first doubles win. The Broncos took the doubles point and defeated LMU 4-0. Redza was inserted into the singles lineup against No. 16 San Diego in the sixth spot for just his fourth start during duals this season. He boasted a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Luc Wieland to put SCU up 2-1 in a match they won 4-2. This is the second time this season that Redza won conference Freshman of the Week.
