SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine’s Mahanth Chirravuri was voted the West Coast Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, while Waves head coach Michael Beard was named the Conference’s Coach of the Year for the seventh time in his career and Oregon State’s Nguyen Anh Minh was tabbed the Freshman of the Year, as the league announced its major awards.
All three major awards, along with the all-conference team, were voted on solely by the league’s 12 head coaches.
Chirravuri is ranked No. 11 in the SCOREBOARD individual rankings. He has six top-15 finishes in eight tournaments this spring. At the West Coast Conference Championship, the senior tied for fourth with a 5-under after stroke play at Green Valley Country Club. He clinched Pepperdine’s victory over Augusta in the match play semifinals, finishing 1 UP on his opponent to send the Waves to the final round. Chirravuri had three top 10 finishes in the fall and owns a 68.2 scoring average for the year.
Chirravuri, who won the West Coast Conference individual championship last season and shared West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors with Pacific’s Carlos Astiazaran last year, is the first back-to-back conference player of the year since Pepperdine’s Dylan Menante won the award in 2021 and 2022.
Beard guided Pepperdine to its second consecutive West Coast Conference team title this season, as the Waves finished stroke play in second and defeated Augusta and Oregon State in match play to secure the conference title. He has coached Pepperdine to six West Coast Conference titles in the past eight events. Beard, who led Pepperdine to the NCAA Championship in 2021, has the Waves ranked 15th in the latest SCOREBOARD rankings.
Anh Minh has placed in the top 15 in all six tournaments he has played in during the spring season, including an individual title at the Bandon Dunes Championship in March. He placed second at the West Coast Conference Championship with a score of 12-under during stroke play at Green Valley Country Club. Anh Minh owns a scoring average of 68.5. He has helped lead Oregon State to a No. 60 SCOREBOARD ranking.
The Pepperdine trio of Brady Siravo, Willy Walsh and Chirravuri were selected to the All-West Coast Conference Team for the third time in their careers. Washington State’s Sam Renner earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive year.
Along with the three Pepperdine players, LMU, San Diego and Washington State each had two individuals on the all-conference team and Oregon State had one. Santa Clara’s Matt Robles and Oregon State’s Rylan Johnson were recognized by the conference for the second consecutive year, as both earned honorable mention selections this year.
