SAN BRUNO, Calif. – After hosting a record-setting West Coast Conference Championship last week at Manito Golf and Country Club in Spokane, Wash., the league is pleased to unveil its 2018-19 All-WCC team and major award winners. All-WCC First Team selections and each major individual award winners were selected solely by the five conference head coaches.
WCC Champion No. 28 Pepperdine captured two of the three major postseason honors. Senior All-American
Hira Naveed is the fourth Wave to earn WCC Player of the Year honors joining a list that includes Marissa Chow (2015), four-time winner Grace Na (2011-14) and Lisa McCloskey (2010). Naveed is the WCC’s top-rated player at No. 14, according to GolfStat.com and she captured medalist honors at the 2019 WCC Championship.
Pepperdine head coach
Laurie Gibbs earns WCC Coach of the Year honors for an unprecedented 13th time after guiding the Waves to another remarkable season. Competing in elite events, the Waves posted five top-five finishes, two runner-up showings to go along with the WCC hardware.
Gonzaga’s
Quynn Duong earned WCC Freshman of the Year accolades and posted dive top-five finishes in her rookie season for the Zags while posting the second best individual Golfstat ranking in the conference at No. 77. Duong is the third Bulldog student-athlete to capture top frosh honors – all coming since 2013.
Pepperdine led the way with four All-WCC selections, while BYU and Santa Clara each placed two on the first team. All five programs secured at least one spot on the list.

Rose Huang and Pepperdine’s

Patricia Wong of Pepperdine each make their second All-WCC squad.
