SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named BYU’s Jack Barnett the West Coast Conference Men’s Singles Player of the Week and the San Francisco duo of Phuc Huynh and Mitch Johnson the Men’s Doubles Team of the Week.
Barnett had a dominating singles performance and he was the first player to finish his match for BYU in their lone dual of the week against Denver. The freshman defeated a senior from the University of Denver, Ignatius Castelino, 6-2, 6-3 on court four to give BYU its second point of the match.
Phuc Huynh and Mitch Johnson went 2-0 on the weekend at the Pacific Valley Tennis Championships. The pair clinched the doubles point for the Dons against Gonzaga in defeating Zags duo of Matthew Hollingworth and Oliver Andersson, 6-3. Huynh and Johnson also earned a 7-6 win against Wichita State to finish the week unbeaten.
