Presenting the 2020-21 WCC Men’s Golf All-Academic Team

Seven programs placed at least one student-athlete on the first team

SAN MATEO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced its Men’s Golf All-Academic Team for the 2020-21 season. This year’s 10-member first team encompasses WCC student-athletes who excelled both on the course and in the classroom.

Seven men’s golf programs placed at least one student-athlete on the first team led by three from 2021 NCAA Nationals participant San Francisco, while LMU placed a pair. Pepperdine All-American and WCC Player of the Year Dylan Menante, makes his academic team debut and helped the Waves capture the 2021 NCAA Championship.

This year’s squad features six repeat appearances and two have the unusual distinction of making the first team for the fourth time: Saint Mary’s Blake Hathcoat and San Francisco’s Tim Widing. Soren Lind of San Francisco and Matt McCarty of Santa Clara make their third straight first team roster, while LMU’s Gavin Cohen and BYU’s Kelton Hirsch earn a spot for the second time.

No fewer than 32 men’s golf student-athletes qualified for academic honors. More than 20 posted a GPA of at least 3.50, while 12 posted marks of 3.75 or better.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
