LMU Picked To Win WCC Men's Golf Title

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO – LMU was picked to win the 2024 West Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship as the Lions sit at the top of the preseason leaderboard in the league's eight-team preseason poll, the Conference announced on Thursday.

The preseason poll and All-WCC team were selected solely by a vote of the Conference's eight head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or student-athletes.

The Lions collected seven first-place votes for 49 points. San Francisco checked in at second with 43 points, and the remaining first-place vote, while Saint Mary's placed third with 33 points. 2023 NCAA Championship quarterfinal participants Pepperdine was voted fourth with 31 points while Santa Clara landed fifth with 25 points.

Andi Xu of San Diego returns to the WCC preseason team for the third consecutive season.

Riley Lewis from LMU made the preseason team for the second straight year after also garnering the honor his junior season. Lewis, who also qualified for the 2023 NCAA Championship last year, won an individual title this fall and helped LMU earn a program-best three tournament wins and a 38th national rank ahead of the spring season.

Kristian Bressum of Saint Mary's and teammates Jakob Melin and Ben Partridge of San Francisco made the preseason team after earning WCC All-Conference honors last spring.
