Pepperdine Voted WCC Preseason Women's Golf Favorite

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Defending 2023 West Coast Conference Champion Pepperdine was voted unanimously to repeat again in 2024 taking all possible first-place votes in the WCC preseason poll.

The preseason poll and All-WCC team were selected solely by a vote of the Conference's four head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own team or student-athletes.

Pepperdine secured nine points receiving a first-place vote from all the other three coaches in the league. Santa Clara and San Francisco tied for second place, checking in with six points each. Gonzaga (3) rounded out the poll.

Pepperdine, who has won 20 of 26 WCC Championships, advanced to the quarterfinal at the NCAA Championships last year, going toe-to-toe with defending national champions Stanford in match play. The Waves finished their 2023 fall season with a pair of wins and a third-place finish. Pepperdine ranks 20th in the country ahead of the 2024 spring season.

Kaleiya Romero returns to the WCC preseason team for the third consecutive season. She was a WCC Championship individual medalist in 2023.

Teammates Lauren Gomez and Lion Higo from Pepperdine and Grace Lee of Gonzaga made the preseason team for the second straight year.

Riana Mission of San Francisco made the preseason team after earning WCC All-Conference honors last spring.
